101 Devotees Leave for Amarnath from Jammu
August 7, 2013: A fresh batch of 101 pilgrims left for the cave shrine of Amarnath in South Kashmir Himalayas on Wednesday.
A report from Jammu said that the convoy of three vehicles carrying the 41st batch of 101 devotees left the Yatri Niwas at Bhagwati Nagar around 4:45 AM to pay obeisance at the shrine.
The batch, including 53 men and six women, was on its way to the twin base camps of Pahalgam and Baltal, police said.
With Wednesday's batch, a total of 51,325 devotees have left for Amarnath so far from the Jammu base camp.
'Chhari Mubarak' taken to Shankaracharya temple
A report from Srinagar said that 'Chhari-Mubarak', the saffron-robed holy mace of Lord Shiva, has been taken to historic Shankaracharya temple.
Carried by its custodian Mahant Deependra Giri and accompanied by a group of sadhus and devotees, the holy mace was taken out from its abode at Dashnami Akhara in Budshah Chowk area of the city and offered special prayers at Shankaracharya temple.
