20 pilgrims from Dhule met with accident

 

 

Pune, August 6, 2013: About 20 pilgrims from Dhule district sustained injuries after the tempo they weretravelling in turned turtle near Rajgurunagar on the Pune-Nashik highway on Monday morning.

The Khed police said that five out of the 20 people sustained severe injuries and the condition of two women is critical. Police said the pilgrims from Dhule had come to Dehu for offering prayers on Sunday. They were on their way to Bhimashankar via Pune-Nashik highway on Monday when the accident took place in Chandoli village near Rajgurunagar around 6am.

Police said an unidentified vehicle hit the tempo in an attempt to overtake. "The impact was such that the driver of the tempo lost control of the wheel and the tempo turned turtle," police said. Police said all the pilgrims travelling in the tempo sustained injuries. Sangita Sonawane (42) and Ikranbai Kshirsagar (72), who have sustained severe injuries, are undergoing treatment inYashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital in Pimpri, police said.
