Special Pujas at Bhadrachalam Temple
Khammam, August 4, 2013: Priests of the historical Sri Sitaramachandra Swamy temple in Bhadrachalam performed special pujas to the “river goddess” in the temple town on Saturday seeking “divine intervention” to calm down the swollen river.
The special pujas were performed on the banks of the Godavari abutting the flood bank in the temple town.
Meanwhile, the shops at the Vista Complex adjoining the main temple complex were flooded with water emanating from the leakages in the sluice gates of the flood bank. The local residents were compelled to wade through knee-deep water on the streets surrounding the Mithila Stadium in the vicinity of the temple complex. People living in low-lying areas in the temple town as well as in the flood hit villages in Bhadrachalam mandal were sheltered in relief camps . However, the flood victims complained of short supply of milk and other essentials.
