New Trains for Palani
Dindigul, August 3, 2013: The second rail track laying work between Dindigul and Tiruchi is expected to be completed by 2015. New trains will be introduced between Tiruchendur and Palani and Chennai and Palani shortly, according to Divisional Railway Manager A.K.Rastogi.
Talking to press persons after taking part in the inauguration of extended services of two trains to Palani on Friday, he said work on track-doubling was in full swing. Levelling work was at the final stage.
Construction of bridges was also on. Allotment of coaches to the two proposed trains to Palani from Tiruchendur and Chennai was not done. Once it was done, the new trains would be introduced, he noted.
To a question about the gauge conversion of Madurai-Theni section, he said the work would also commence shortly. Referring to a paralysed electronic coach indicator, he said repair work would commence soon.
Earlier, Minister for Power R.Viswanathan, MP N.S.V.Chitthan, Collector N.Venkatachalam, and former Revenue Minister I.Periasamy flagged off the extended services to Palani at the Dindigul railway station.
Train No.56710 Madurai-Palani Passenger Train will leave Madurai at 7.35 a.m. and arrive at Dindigul at 8.55 a.m. It will leave Dindigul at 9 a.m. and reach Palani at 10.45 a.m.
Train No.56709 Palani-Madurai Passenger Train will leave Palani at 5.05 p.m. and reach Dindigul at 6.10 p.m.
After a five-minute halt, it will leave Dindigul, and reach Madurai at 8.15 p.m.
