8 crores grant distributed among 965 temples in last 2 years

Palakkad, August 3, 2013: The Malabar Devaswom Board has distributed Rs.8 crore to 965 temples as grant during the last two years.

An amount of Rs.3.5 crore for 965 temples were given for the financial year 2011-12 and Rs.4.5 crore for 829 temples for 2012-13.

The grant was distributed for temples under the divisions of Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Thalassery and Kasargod, said a press release by Assistant Commissioner of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department here on Friday.

There are also 565 private temples under the Malabar Devaswom Board.
