TTD’s Managudi across Andhra Pradesh from August 11 to 21
Vijayawada, August 2, 2013: Hindu Dharma Prachara Parishad, a wing of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) and Endowments Department will jointly organise ‘Mana gudi’ across the state from August 11 to 21.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Parishad’s ‘Mana gudi’ coordinator M.S.K. Prasad said that a host of programmes and rituals would be organised as part of the ‘Mana gudi’ celebrations. Under ‘Alaya sobha’ programme, about 20,000 temples across the State, including 894 in the Krishna district, will be spruced by August 8.
At all district headquarters and Tirupati, the scholars would explain the significance of temples on August 11, Garuda panchami as per Telugu almanac, he said.
Kumkum archana would be performed in 108 selected temples in every district on August 12 and ‘Go pooja’ at 6A (with an income between Rs.25 lakh and Rs.1 crore), 6B (income between Rs.25 lakh and Rs. 5 lakh) temples on August 14. Mass varalakshmi vratam would be performed at 6A, 6B temples on August 16. On the following day, Satyanarayana swamy vratam would be performed at all important Dalitwadas and girijan thandas, he said. A procession would be taken out in Dalitwadas, girijan thandas, and fishermen colonies on August 18 and 19. On the final day, August 21, rituals like abhishekam, archana etc. would be performed at all temples. The ‘Mana gudi’ oath and Kankana dharana would also be part of the final day celebrations, he said. Parishad Krishna district special officer D.V. Srihari, president Ramkumar, secretary Sudhakar Reddy, Endowments Assistant Commissioner Durga Prasad were also present.
In 620 temples
In Guntur district, the programme will be held in 620 temples, said programme special officer Srikant Reddy.
TTD Dharma Prachara Mandali district president T. Murali Mohan announced that steps were taken for conducting minor repairs and whitewashing temples in 20 backward areas in the district.
