Samaikyandhra effect on Tirumala Pilgrimage
Tirumala, August 2, 2013: The hill temple of Lord Venkateswara on Thursday witnessed a considerably low turnout of pilgrims with Samaikhyandhra agitation entering the second day.
It, nevertheless, proved a fortunate day for the devotees as they did not have to wait for long hours for darshan. Also, they easily gained entry into the queue complexes and comfortably availed the accommodation at the place of their choice.
Vehicular traffic on Tirumala ghat roads was scarce. While the long-distance buses remain confined to depots, local taxi and cab drivers were reluctant to hit the roads as the Samaikhyandhra agitation became intense in the region.
However, banks and other business establishments functioned all through the day.
