A Suitable way to help Uttarakhand victims
Visakhapatnam, August 2, 2013: With an aim to extend support to the victims of Uttarakhand floods and to provide educational support to the needy children, members of the Akhil Bhartiya Marwari Mahila Mandal have come together to catch the attention of the city shoppers at the two-day exhibition — The Fair.
The exhibition is all set to showcase a selection of designer saris, dress materials, kurtis, handbags, bed linen, home decors, accessories, and handmade ‘rakhis’ in more than 50 stalls.
Mahila mandal president Manju Rathi, vice-president Sangita Rathi, secretary Shalu Agarwal, joint secretary Abha Goel, editor of the mandal Uma Daga, and committee member Sunitha Agarwal said the proceeds of the exhibition would be spent for charity and priority given to the flood victims of Uttarakhand.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, they said the exhibition offered a platform for women entrepreneurs to showcase their products.
“Most of the women in our community are good at sari designing and other creative works. Exhibitions such as these provide an opportunity for them to understand the market needs and customise their wares accordingly,” they added.
The two-day exhibition will begin on Saturday at AMCOSA Hall and is open from 10 a.m. onwards.
