Police helped the Kallazhagar Temple authorities to retrieve its land which mis used by lessee
Madurai, August 1, 2013: The police have helped the Kallazhagar Temple authorities retrieve 1.50 acre of agricultural land, valued at Rs.10 crore, which was allegedly misused by the lessee, S. Meenakshi Sundaram of Uthangudi. A statement said the temple authorities had given the land on lease to Meenaksi Sundaram for farming purpose 40 years back. However, the lessee had recently given up agricultural activities on the land and had sub-leased it to two private parties for other purposes. Based on a complaint received from the temple Executive Officer in June, the District Crime Branch police evicted the lessee from the land and handed it back to the temple authorities.
