BJP MLAs demanded discussion on Kedarnath tragedy in Bihar Assembly
Patna, July 31, 2013: Opposition BJP MLAs on Tuesday demanded adjournment of the normal business of the assembly for debate on the state government's failure to provide relief to the victims of Kedarnath tragedy. They alleged a large number of pilgrims from Bihar were still missing.
Two senior BJP members, Ashwini Kumar Choubey and Vinod Narayan Jha, had earlier submitted a notice seeking adjournment of the proceedings and debate on state government's negligent role in providing relief to the victims from Bihar. They entered into the well of the House, shouting slogans against the government and seeking resignation of chief minister Nitish Kumar.
Former minister Sukhda Pandey, chief whip of opposition Arun Kumar Sinha and BJP MLA from Bankipore Nitin Navin and several party legislators earlier gathered at the entrance of the gate and shouted slogans against the government and alleged Bihari pilgrims were neglected at Kedarnath.
Speaker Uday Narain Chaudhury adjourned the House till 2pm without transacting first half's scheduled business.
