Annual Adi Festival in Sri Mahalakshmi Amman Temple

Karur, July 30, 2013: The annual Adi festival at Mettu Mahadanapuram Sri Mahalakshmi Amman temple would be held on August 4, the day on which devotees would undergo the ritual of having coconuts broken on their head as part of thanksgiving to the deity. A review meet on holding the ritual peacefully was conducted by Kulithalai RDO Sivasoundaravalli at Krishnarayapuram taluk office. It was decided not to allow youth below 20 years of age to undergo the ritual, nor permit caste-based digital flex banners at public places and to take steps to prevent theft of jewellery while taking bath at the Cauvery.
