Swami Vivekananda 150th Birthday Celebrations at Kadapa from Aug 2 to 4
Kadapa, July 29, 2013: Swami Vivekananda ratha yatra, organised as part of the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, will be held in Kadapa city from August 2 to 4, Ramakrishna Math secretary Swami Atmavidananda said on Sunday.
Swami Vivekananda addressed an all-religion summit in Chicago in the US in 1893 and spread India’s glorious history and culture to the world. He awakened the people of the country by his preaching in 1897, the Swamiji said. Swami Vivekananda’s 150th jayanthi celebrations are being held particularly to infuse confidence among the youth and inspire them to tread the path of progress and pave the way for nation-building, the Ramakrishna Math Secretary said. He called upon people to participate in big numbers in the rath yatra.
Yogi Vemana University Vice-Chancellor B. Syamsunder will flag off the rath yatra near the residential school at Chinna Chowk and will address an inaugural meeting. Kadapa Municipal Commissioner P. Chandramouleeswara Reddy, District Revenue Officer N. Easwaraiah and Swami Atmavidananda of Ramakrishna Math will preside.
A public meeting will be held at the TTD kalyana mandapam later and the rath yatra will proceed to Krishna circle, Chennur bus stand, Collectorate, Nagarajupet, Koti Reddy circle, Yerramukkapalle, Rajiv Park, SP camp office, RTC bus stand and to the Collector’s camp office on August 2.
The yatra will cover the ITI circle, Sri Vijaya Durga Devi temple, Alamkhanpalle and a public meeting will be held on KSRM Engineering College campus and would proceed to Yogi Vemana University on August 3, Swami Atmavidananda said. It would go to Chennur on August 4 and to RIMS medical college, Hyderabad Public School, YSR Regional Sports School and Shilparamam that night.
A book exhibition-cum-sale will be organised at TTD kalyana mandapam and RTC bus stand on August 2, KSRM Engineering College and YVU on August 3 and near the Collectorate and RIMS Medical College on August 4, he said.
