Kathakali maestro Chemancheri Kunhiraman Nair had been selected for the Janmashtami Award

Kathakali maestro Chemancheri Kunhiraman Nair had been selected for the Janmashtami Award instituted by Balasamskarakendram, Aluva.
According to a press release, the award is given to individuals every year in recognition to their artistic, literary, or cultural life based on the ideals of Lord Krishna. Guru Chemancheri was noted for his faithful portrayal of Lord Krishna in his performances.
The award carries Rs.25,000, a citation, and a sculpture designed by artist K.K. Warrier, and will be given away in Kozhikode in August.
