Students Take to Deciphering the Significance of Temples
Tiruchi, July 28, 2013: For more than 100 school students who took the first step in learning the fundamentals of temple architecture, art and photography, the reference for learning was the famous Srirangam temple itself, on Saturday.
School students including those from corporation schools participated in a two day training camp that commenced on Saturday.
Artist Chanthuru, architect Thennan Meimman, photographer Thamizh Kuricil and art professor Ravi guided students to look beyond religious aspects of the temple, unveiling the historical and cultural significance of various symbols depicted in carvings and engravings.
Art teachers and senior students from Kudanthai Government Arts College also participated in the camp inaugurated by corporation commissioner V.P. Dhandapani in the presence of Government chief whip R. Manoharan at Srirangam Divisional Office.
The camp was organised by organisations Ainthinai in Tirunelveli and Kalanjiyam, Tiruchi, along with the city corporation.
