Agartala, July 23, 2013: The weeklong Kharchi festival and fair ended peacefully amidst enthusiasm and religious fervour on Monday.

ICA Minister Bhanulal Saha, deputy speaker and local MLA Pabitra Kar along with other dignitaries were present in the concluding ceremony of the fair. Breaking all previous records, huge numbers of devotees gathered in Chaturdash Devata temple in Khayerpur during the last one week.

Elaborate Traffic system, road communication, security arrangement were made during the festival days. 

In order to ensure the peaceful observance of the festival metal detectors and CCTV cameras were installed in the fair premises. During the fair days several cultural programmes were organized including devotional songs and dramas.

The fair committee sources said that during the weeklong festival about 12 lakh devotees gathered and about Rs 15 crore sale was recorded in the fair.

Altogether 2000 stalls for several categories for traders were set up in fair campus.
