Kedarnath Purohits are angry on demolition of their buildings
DEHRADUN, July 24, 2013: The Teerth Purohits of Kedarnath are up in arms against the Uttarakhand government’s decision to pull down their partially damaged buildings in the temple complex and disallow any construction within a 500-metre radius. “We will oppose any move to demolish our partially damaged houses before providing us alternative accommodation and adequate compensation,” said Jai Prakash Shukla, president of the Kedarnath Purohit Samiti. They also questioned Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna offering prayers at Kedarnath on Monday, saying that prayers could only be offered after the temple was purified.
