Puri Temple Administration Serves Notices to 2 Priests over Bahuda Yatra Misconduct
BHUBANESWAR, July 23, 2013: The Jagannath temple administration on Monday rapped two more servitors for alleged indiscipline and misconduct during Bahuda Yatra. The two Daitapati servitors, Ramakrushna Dasmohapatra and Premananda Dasmohapatra, have been served showcause notices. The duo may face suspension if they fail to respond to the notice within a week. "Premananda delayed pahandi ritual of the deities on Bahuda Yatra by picking up a quarrel with some other priests. When the temple officials intervened, he misbehaved with them," said a senior temple officer.
Ramakrushna was found arguing with some senior temple and police officers in front of the chariots, the same day. The argument started when temple's chief administrator Arvind Padhee asked 'fake' priests and devotees to climb down the Nandigosh chariot of Jagannath.
Both Ramakrushna and Premadas have rubbished the charges. "We are yet to receive the showcase notice," they said.
