Misleading Info Out of Adi Shankara Temple Vexes Puri Shrine

BHUBANESWAR, July 23, 2013: The famous Adi Shankara Temple at Kalady in Ernakulam district of Kerala is embroiled in a controversy for allegedly disseminating misleading information about Jagannath Temple at Puri. Puri temple's chief administrator Arvind Padhee on Monday shot off a letter to the Adi Shankara Temple management seeking correction.

Sources said some devotees from Odisha recently visited Kalady where they came across the 'blunder' at the Adi Shankara Temple. The devotees subsequently brought it to the notice of the Puri temple authorities.

"The Adi Shankara Temple has an eight-storey memorial in which the Odia devotees found some misleading information and photographs about Puri Jagannath Temple. Instead of Jagannath Temple, they found a Krishna Temple, being described as the Jagannath temple of Puri dham," Jagannath Temple's public relations officer Laxmidhar Pujapanda told TOI. "The chief administrator wrote a letter to the Adi Shankara Temple to rectify the mistake. We have also sent some photographs to the Kalady shrine. Since many pilgrims are visiting Adi Shankara Temple, they should not carry the wrong information about the Puri temple," Pujapanda said.
