Devotees Flock Maths to Seeks Gurus’ Blessings on Guru Purnima
VARANASI, July 23, 2013: Religious fervour marked Guru Purnima on Monday. Huge crowd of devotees thronged different maths and ashrams of the city to seek the blessing of their Gurus on the occasion.
Traditionally Hindus celebrate the festival in the honour of the great sage Vyasa, who is seen one of the greatest gurus in ancient Hindu traditions, and a symbol of 'Guru-shishya parampara'. The festival is dedicated to the expression of gratitude towards the teacher by the disciples.
Devotees from acorss the country had assembled at different places of their gurus to pay respect and seek blessings. Several religious rituals and ceremonies were organised at Aghoracharya Baba Kinaram Aghor Shodh avum Seva Sansthan, Shri Dharma Sangh Shiksha Mandal, Garhwaghat Ashram, Kedar ghat, Tulsi ghat, Sarveshwari Sansthan Padao and other places. Special puja and aarti were also organised in various temples of the city. Devotees also took holy dip in river Ganga and offered prayers at prominent temples. A three-day Dhammachakka Mahotsava also started at Sarnath.
