Guru Poornima Celebrated with Fanfare across Belgaum Schools
Belgaum, July 23, 2013: Guru Poornima was celebrated with much fanfare in schools across the city.
At Jain Heritage School, students felicitated their teachers with flowers and greeting cards and thanked them for playing an important role in shaping their careers .
Other institutions which celebrated the occasion on Monday included the Sri Ramakrishna Mission Ashram and music organisations in the city and other parts of the district.

Pallavi Nadkarni and Kusuma, students of Jain Heritage school, anchored the programme.
The students explained that the term ‘guru’ meant dispeller of darkness, where ‘gu’ stood for darkness or ignorance and ‘ru’ for its remover. Thus, a guru takes his disciples from darkness to light.
