Devotees Throng Sai Baba Temple in Guntur on the Eve of Guru Purnima
Guntur, July 23, 2013: Thousands of devotees thronged Shirdi Sai Baba temples on Monday and performed special rituals on the auspicious occasion of ‘Guru Purnima’. Rituals were also performed at Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple at Mangalagiri.
There was particularly a huge rush of devotees at Sai Baba temples at Brodipet (4th lane) and Kothapet and a sizable number of those who formed a beeline were students who sought to invoke the blessings of the Lord. Mass ‘Sai Nama Sankeertana’ was organised by the devotees who also arranged free meals for the poor. Various spiritual programmes were held in the evening. Festive atmosphere prevailed in Guntur city and other towns as devotees converged at the temples from the early morning and offered prayers for world peace and conveyed gratitude to their teachers for moulding them into what they are today.
In Machilipatnam devotees thronged Sai Baba temple here, one of the big temples in Andhra Pradesh and offered special puja to the deity .
Thousands of devotees from across the district arrived on the auspicious day to listen to the religious discourses and celebrate the day with devotional fervour.
In Vijayawada Nalanda Degree College celebrated Vyasa Poornima (Guru Poornima) in the college . Addressing the students Acharya Nagarjuna University Telugu Professor P.Y. Prabhavati Devi said that Guru’s principles such as ‘Satya’ (truth), ‘Dharma’ (Religious philosophy) and ‘Daya’ (compassion) are still relevant in today’s world.
