7 Pilgrims Lost in Nallamalla Forests Found
YARRAGONDAPALEM, July 21, 2013: Seven pilgrims who lost their way in the deep forests of Nallamala were rescued by the police here on Saturday. The pilgrims had left Yarragondapalem early in the morning to reach Srisailam temple on foot through the forest. However, they got lost and after trying to find a way out for six hours, the exhausted group telephoned their friends at home for assistance. The friends alerted the local police, who immediately rushed to the forests.
After a search of about three hours, the police tracked the missing pilgrims near Nerajamula thanda around 20 km away from Yarragondapalem village. Sources identified the pilgrims as K Nanda Kumar, Battula Venkatesh, I China Yellaiah, Veeranayana and three of their friends. The police team headed by SI A Venkateswarlu helped the devotees reach their village, Mogullapalem hamlet near Kulukula. All the seven devotees are young graduates, with one of them being an engineering graduate.
