Annaual ‘Chatra Sthapanotsavam’ Performed at Narayanagiri Padalu
Tirumala, July 21, 2013: Fervour marked the annual Chatra sthapanotsavam performed on Saturday at the Narayanagiri Padalu. The historical Padalu is located on the acme of the Narayanagiri hills situated about four kilometres from the temple complex amidst the Tirumala forests.
Mythology has it that the presiding deity, Lord Venkateswara, after choosing the sacred hill town as his divine abode, is believed to have first ascended on the hills (considered to be the highest of all the seven hills) ahead of his manifestation atop the temple town.
Commemorating the ceremonious occasion, the temple priests carried a new temple umbrella and performed special poojas at the padalu. Prominent among others who took part in the programme include the TTD’s Chairman K. Bapiraju, Peishkar R. Selvam and other temple officials.
