‘Pavitrotsavam’ at Tirupati Temple
Tirupati, July 20, 2013: The three-day annual ‘Pavitrothsavam’ began at the TTD’s Sri Kapileswara Swamy temple here on Friday. The ritual is considered a form of purification by seeking the pardon of the Lord for any act of commission or omission done inadvertently either by the priests, officials or by the visiting pilgrims. The ritual is considered to undo the effects of such sacrilegious acts, if any, and restore the purity of the shrine to its original form.
As part of the event, a celestial bath ‘Snapana Tirumanjanam’ was given at the Kalyana Mandapam in the temple complex to the processional deities of Lord Sri Kapileswara,
His consort Sri Kamakshi Ammavaru, Sri Vigneswara, Sri Subrahmanya and Sri Chandikeswara.
Deputy Executive Officer C.Reddemma, Superintendent Muni Suresh Reddy and others took part.
