3-Day Jyestabhishekam at Tirupati Temple
Tirumala, July 19, 2013: The three-day annual Jyestabhishekam began at the temple of Sri Govindaraja Swamy at Tirupati on Thursday amidst great religious fervour.
In connection with the festival, Homam and Snapana Thirumanjanam were performed to the deities of Sri Govindaraja swamy and his two divine consorts inside the temple.
The religious fete is conducted every year for three days during the month of Ashada on the auspicious star of Jyesta.
Tulasi Mahatyam Utsavam
Meanwhile, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) management is also making elaborate arrangements for the grand conduct of the Tulasi Mahatyam Utsavam scheduled on July 20 at the temple.
The festival is conducted every year on Sravana suddha Dwadasi commemorating the birth of divine Tulasi.
Immense significance
Immense significance is attached to the festival, which is believed to have been introduced in the temple by none other than the Sri Vaishanvite saint, Ramanujacharya, some 900 years ago.
The procession of Garuda vahanam will be organised in the morning preceded by the recital of the Tulasi Mahatyam by the temple priests.
