Ahobila Mutt Pontiff Arrives in Madurai
Madurai, July 17, 2013: The Sri Renganatha Yatheendra Mahadesikan, the 46th Jeeyar of Sri Ahobila mutt arrived here in the ‘temple’ city on a four-day visit as a part of his Vijaya yatra.
The jeeyar, was accorded a rousing reception by a large number of devotees, from far and near, at the Brahmana Kalyana Mandapam in S.S. Colony amid chanting of vedic hymns.
According to the reception committee coordinator, Venkataraman, the jeeyar paid mangalasasanam(holy visit by pontiff) at the famous Koodal Alagar Perumal Temple, Desikar Sannidhi and at the Rengaraja Perumal Temple, Thuvarimaan, where he was given temple honours.
The pontiff, who was on the yatra after his pattabishekam as 46{+t}{+h}Jeeyar on June 23, had visited Tirupati, Ahobilam, Tiruvallur, Kumbakonam and other places, before arriving at Tirupullani in Ramanathapuram district, the 44{+t}{+h}Vaishnavite holy shrine on Saturday.
