State Govt. Moves for Appointment of Administrative Officers for Two Melkote Temples
Bangalore, July 16, 2013: The State government is planning the appointment of administrative officers for two renowned temples of Melkote — Cheluvarayaswamy temple and Yoganarasimha temple — by superseding temple managing committees in view of irregularities and thefts.
Minister for Muzrai Prakah B. Hukkeri on Monday told the Legislative Assembly that a criminal case will be filed against Narasaraja Bhat, suspended archak of the Cheluvarayaswamy temple, in connection with the a case relating to temple ornaments. The Melkote Temple Trust had suspended the archak following instructions from the Department of Religious Endowment. A proposal on appointment of administrative officers is under consideration of the government, he said. In a reply to N. Cheluvarayaswamy of the JD(S), Mr. Hukkeri said the archak was facing charges of dereliction of duty and misuse of power.
