Sakambari Festival Commences from July 20
Vijayawada, July 15, 2013: Sri Durga Malleswara Swamyvarla Devasthanam will organise Sakambari festival for three days from July 20.
During the Sakambari festival (on Ashada suddha traiyodasi, chaturdasi and pournami as per Telugu calendar), the presiding deity goddess Kanaka Durga will be decked up with vegetables.
‘Vighneswara pooja’, ‘punyahvachana’, ‘akhanda deeparadhana’, ‘ankurarpana’, ‘vastu homam’, ‘kalasa sthapana’, would be organised on the first day.
‘Saptasati parayana’, ‘moola mantra havan’, ‘mahavidya parayana’ would be some of the rituals that would be conducted on the second day.
The ‘saptasati parayana’, ‘maha vidya parayana’, ‘santhi poushtika homam’, ‘kushmanda bali’, scheduled to be organised on the third day, would mark the end of the celebrations. Temple Executive Officer K. Prabhakar Srinivas stated that donations and vegetables would be accepted from Sunday to July 21.
