Ahobila Mutt Pontiff Arrives at Tirupullani
Ramanathapuram, July 15, 2013: Sri Renganatha Yatheendra Mahadesikan, the 46th Jeer of Sri Ahobila Mutt, paid a four-day visit to Tirupullani, the holy Vaishnavite shrine, near here as part of his Vijaya yatra. The pontiff, who is on the yatra after his Pattabishekam as 46th Jeer on June 23, visited Tirupati, Ahobilam, Tiruvallur, Kumbakonam and other places before arriving at Tirupullani, the 44th Vaishnavite holy shrine on Saturday evening.
He was received with temple honours at the entrance of Tirupullani by G. Kannan, Temple officer of Adhi Jegannatha Perumal Temple, R. Sowmyanarayana Battar and Mutt Public Relations Officer S. Narayanan.
On Sunday morning, the Jeer, with about 300 disciples had a holy bath in Sethukarai sea and later offered worship at the Sri Jegannatha Perumal Temple. He went around all the five ‘Sannathis’ of the temple and performed holistic rituals to the Sri Lakshmi Narasimhan utsavar and Sri Krishna utsavar in the Valli Mandapam, Mr Narayanan said. This was the Jeer’s fourth visit to the shrine and the first after being sworn in as the 46th Jeer, after succeeding Sri Narayana Yatheendra Maha Desikan, who died last month in Srirangam. The 46th Pontiff had earlier visited Tirupullani in 2009, 2010 and 2012, Mr Narayanan said. The Jeear had paid his last visit in November. The Jeer would leave for Madurai on Tuesday, he added.
