Shankaracharya Calls upon People to Take the Path of Devotion
Palakkad, July 15, 2013: Sri Jayendra Saraswathi, Sankaracharya of Kanchi Kamakoti Peedham, has called upon people to take to the path of devotion, which is the soul of living.
He was inaugurating the month-long 15th Aradhana Mahotsavam of Jagadguru Chandrasekhara Saraswathi Sankaracharya Swamigal at the Manthakara Mahaganapathy temple hall at Kalpathy here on Sunday.
The seer said, “Bhajan is the driving force in this era of life. Without Namasamkeerthanam (discourse), our life will not be full and final.”
He was happy to be in Kerala because it was the great land that gave birth to Adi Sankara in Kalady.
He urged the organisers of the Aradhana Mahotsavam to conduct it every year for spiritual uplift, global peace and universal brotherhood. This was the Sankaracharya’s first visit to Palakkad district this year. The Sankaracharya was given a rousing welcome at the Chathapuram Prasanna Mahaganapathy temple at Kalpathy by the festival committee and the Brahma Samooham in the morning. He was taken in an open vehicle through the old and new Kalpathy Agraharams, accompanied by Panchavadyam and caparisoned elephants amid the chanting of Sankara Bhajans.
