Ashada Pilgrims to be Served Mouth-Watering Laddus and Obbattus

Mysore, July 11, 2013: The Chamundeshwari Seva Samithi is busy preparing laddus and obbattus at Nityananda Kalyana Mantap near Sterling Theatre here which will be distributed to the devotees during their visit to Goddess Chamundeshwari Temple atop Chamundi Hill during the Hindu month of Ashada.

The Samithi will prepare around 2,500 laddus and 25,000 obbattu at a cost of Rs. 1.5 lakh. The preparations started a week back with the help of 60 cooks.

The Samithi will distribute the same to the devotees on the first Ashada Friday. Samithi President S.E.L. Raju, S.V. Nagesh and Sugendra have been distributing laddus and obbattus for the 7th consecutive year. The Samithi has also been offering flower decoration at the temple from the past 26 years.

Arun Kumar, Shashi Snehitara Balaga have used 1,500 coconuts, 200kg maida, 250kg rava, 400kg jaggery, 15kg gasagase, 12 tins of edible oil, 2 tins of Nandini ghee for preparing obbattu. The group has used 25kg gram flour, 70kg sugar, 1kg clove, 2kg watermelon seeds, 3kg cashew nut, 3kg raisin (dry grapes), 3tins of refined oil and 2 tins of Nandini ghee for the preparation of laddus.

Special alankar

Sri Chamundeshwari Seva Samithi has organised special alankar to the Goddess with pomegranate and flowers on July 12, being the first Ashada Friday of the year. It will be inaugurated by District In-Charge Minister V.Sreenivasa Prasad.
