Gaya Attacks: an Insult to the Nation
Chitradurga, July 10, 2013: Members of the district committee of Gautham Buddha Foundation on Tuesday took out a procession and staged dharna outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office here, in protest against the bomb blasts at Bodh Gaya in Bihar State.
The foundation members urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to prevail upon the Union government to order a thorough probe into the incident and initiate stringent action against culprits. Terming the attack an insult to the nation, they said the culprits should be sternly dealt with.
They urged the Union government to tighten up security arrangements at all pilgrim centres and other prominent places to prevent recurrence of such attacks.
The members appealed to the State government to construct a Buddha Chaityalaya each in every taluk to spread the preaching of Buddha. A decision in this regard should be taken at the earliest, they said.
Later, the members submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner V.P. Ikkeri.
District committee president P.B. Tippeswamy and general secretary M. Ponnappa led the agitation.
