JAIPUR, July 9, 2013: The police and temple administration in Jaipur are yet to take a call to ensure proper training of the policemen and private security personnel. The policemen deployed at these temples are not only ill-equipped but are based on a shift basis.

This paper while visiting various temples in the city found that most security personnel deployed are not motivated and think it's a thankless job.

"Our duties are managed by the police lines situated at Chandpole. I have no idea if I am on duty at Kholey ke Hanumanji temple today I will again be asked to be at the same temple the next day," said a constable stationed at the temple on Monday.

Senior police officers though claimed that training sessions are organized to train policemen to handle safety gadgets including metal detectors and CCTV cameras; they admitted that a dedicated force to look into the security of temples and shrines is missing.

Asked why policemen at Govinddevji temple were not checking the baggage and belongings of devotees visiting the shine, a senior police officer said, "We only go for it whenever we find the activities of a person suspicious. It is not possible to check each and everyone," said a senior police officer.

Some of the private security guards are even unaware about how to respond when they find a detector beeping a particular sound. "If we find something suspicious, we inform the policemen on duty," said Sheeshram a private security guard at Kholey ke Hanumanji temple.
