Security Beefed Up in Bangalore Following Gaya Blasts
Bangalore, July 8, 2013: Security has been stepped up in the city following the serial blasts in Bodh Gaya in Bihar on Sunday.
City Police Commissioner Raghavendra Auradkar told The Hindu that the focus was on sensitive areas, religious places and key installations. Picketing and patrolling had been intensified.
Additional Director-General of Police M.N. Reddi said all Commissionerates and heads of district police had been instructed to review security, patrol sensitive areas, and provide security cover to religious places and vital installations.
Ananda Bante, general secretary, Maha Bodhi Society, Bangalore, said the Buddhist community hoped wisdom dawns on those who took to violence. “While we propagate ideas of kindness, peace and compassion, the exact opposite has been unleashed on us,” he said.
