Forts of Rajasthan Make it to UNESCO’s World Heritage List

July 7, 2013: Hindus have welcomed the inscription of Hill Forts of Rajasthan (India) on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, said that their inclusion was long overdue, as besides representing military hill architecture, they expressed the unique cultural heritage of the region and included temples also.

Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, urged the UNESCO World Heritage Committee to look into adding more Hindu sites to the list, thus sharing the rich Hindu heritage with the rest of the world. Hinduism, being the oldest religion, had lot to offer to the list.

Rajan Zed further said that India needed to do more to conserve traditional heritage as many of its historical/cultural sites required urgent preservation work.
