BJP Urges Guv to Allow Them to Retrieve Bodies from U’khand
Dehradun, July 7, 2013: A BJP delegation led by Teerath Singh Rawat on Saturday met Governor Aziz Qureshi and urged him to direct the State government to allow BJP workers to go to Kedarnath, Gaurikund and Rambada to recover bodies buried under boulders and debris. “The bodies have to be cremated before more damage is caused to them by insects, animals and vultures,” Mr. Rawat said.
The BJP leaders alleged irregularities in flood relief works.
Meanwhile, officials of the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation held discussions with Uttarakhand authorities. The Ministry promised a grant of Rs. 200 crore under the Rajiv Awas Yojna for reconstruction of houses in urban areas destroyed during last month’s rain fury.
Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna, who was present at the meeting, asked the officials to immediately submit a plan to the Union Ministry to get a soft loan of Rs. 2000 crore through HUDCO.
