Eluru, July 6, 2013: The priests engaged in the temples managed by the Department of Endowments in the district staged a protest here on Friday under the banner of the Paschima Godavari Zilla Archaka Samakhya, seeking solution to their charter of demands. The demands included revival of the inheritance rights for the descendants of priests, payment of salaries on a regular basis, payment of gratuity to all the priests from the funds under the priests welfare fund. The protesters also demanded protection of the Hindu belief system and culture by avoiding posting of officers of the other faiths in the Endowments Department.
