Mesmerizing Music
Ongole, July 6, 2013: Noted musician K.Ratan, founder of the K.J.Yesudas Samskrithika Seva Samastha led 30 youths mesmerised music lovers rendering select kritis composed by, among others, Annamacharya and Ramdas.
Students of the Krishna Memorial school, the Montessori Public School, among other schools did their guru Ratan proud, winning a huge round of applause by singing the sweet Telugu songs with near perfection after paying homage to the statue of Thyagayya, one of the trinities of carnatic music near the Chennakeshava swamy temple.
Satisfied with the performance of the youths, Ratan, an ardent admirer of the noted classical musician and playback singer Yesudas said “I want to train 100 youths in the city to sing Telugu songs with good lyrics”.
B.J.D.Christopher, who has carved a niche for himself in composing devotional songs, was honoured during the musical nite held jointly with the Prakasam District Sahitya, Samskrithika Samastha Aiykya Vedike at the C.V.N.Reading room open air theatre here on Thursday night. Vedic priest Parankusa Keshavacharyulu, a noted theatre personality led the gathering in paying homage to the Chardham pilgrims who died in the floods in Uttarakhand.
