Spicejet to Introduce Bigger Aircrafts to Bangalore, Kochi to Facilitate Sabarimala Pilgrims
Visakhapatnam, july 5, 2013: SpiceJet will introduce a Boeing 800 series aircraft to provide a quicker and more comfortable journey to Bangalore and also to provide connectivity to Kochi from July 8.
President of Vizag Development Council (VDC) Vishnu Kumar Raju and its vice-president O. Naresh Kumar held extensive discussions with SpiceJet over the last one week and sought introduction of a flight to Kochi for the benefit of pilgrims visiting the Swamy Ayyappa temple at Sabarimala and Sri Krishna temple at Guruvayoor. They also sought introduction of a one-hour bigger flight to Bangalore instead of the small ATR aircraft, which was taking two hours. This would provide better connectivity to the IT capital of India. Mr. Naresh Kumar noted that SpiceJet had accepted both the requests and informed the VDC that tickets can be booked on the SpiceJet website for the flights to be operated daily from July 8. The Boeing 800 series aircraft, which can accommodate 189 people, will leave the city at 9.45 a.m. and reach Bangalore at 10.45 a.m. and Kochi at 12.45 p.m.
This will reduce the travelling time both to Bangalore and Kochi with a bigger more comfortable aircraft and much lesser fares than on the ATR aircraft.
Pilgrims and tourists travelling to Kerala and IT professionals and others travelling to Bangalore can book their tickets three months in advance and avail of fares starting from Rs.2,500.
