CPI State Secy. Launches a Fund-Raising Campaign for Uttarkhand Flood Vics.
Kadapa, June 28, 2013: CPI State secretary K. Narayana launched a fund-raising campaign from Kadapa Collectorate for the Uttarakhand disaster victims on Thursday.
Mr. Narayana went round some areas and mobilised voluntary donations to the tune of Rs. 38,000. Speaking to newsmen, he charged the Congress with being complacent in undertaking rescue operations in the flood and landslide-hit Uttarakhand, though the entire nation was grief-stricken on the disaster leading to agony in thousands of pilgrims.
Flays governments
The Central and Uttarakhand government were negligent in taking precautionary measures despite receiving advanced alerts and it led to a few thousand casualties, the CPI secretary alleged.
The government’s negligence in regulating constructions and providing amenities to scores of pilgrims and tourists thronging historic and religious places led to the situation, he alleged.
Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy woke up from slumber five days after the disaster and Congressmen were dealing rudely with those extending relief, Mr. Narayana alleged.
Notwithstanding the undue delay in undertaking air-lifting and relief activities, Congressmen quarrelled like private transport operators, he alleged.
