Salem, June 28, 2013: Twenty-three people, including eight women, who were on a pilgrimage to Uttarakhand returned to Salem on Thursday. Tahsildar Suresh welcomed them at the Salem Railway Junction in the early hours. Pilgrims recalled the difficulties they faced in getting food and shelter and how they were rescued. They were the second batch of pilgrims returning to the district. Twenty-eight pilgrims had already returned on Sunday.
