Curtains Brought Down on the Brahmotsavam at Appalayagunta Temple
Tirupati, June 27, 2013: The nine-day annual Brahmotsavam at Sri Prasanna Venkateswara Swamy temple at Appalayagunta near here concluded on Wednesday.
Priests gave a celestial bath (Snapana Tirumanjanam) to the deities of the Lord and his two consorts. Later, ‘Chakra Snanam’ was performed, wherein the sacred discus (Sudarsana Chakra) was given a holy dip in the temple tank this morning. Devotees, priests and officials plunged into the tank at the same time.
The concluding ritual ‘Dhwaja Avarohanam’ was performed in the evening, when the sacred flag was unfurled from the temple flagpost.
