Congress Sends Aid to the Flood Stricken Uttarakhand Pilgrims
Ongole, June 26, 2013: Responding to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s call to public for generous donations to flood-ravaged Uttarakhand, the Brahmana Seva Samiti handed over Rs. 3 lakh worth medicines, blankets and clothes to City Congress president Jada Balanagendram here on Tuesday. Congress MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy after paying floral tributes to the statue of Andhra’s first Chief Minister Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu, patted the Samiti leaders Chimakurthi Ramu and K. Kusumakumari on the occasion and appealed to people to route their donations liberally through the Pradesh Congress Committee(PCC).
Meanwhile, Akshara Sahitya Samiti president M.V.S.Sastry announced a ‘Kavitha Goshti’ at the Prakasam District Central Library on June 28 to raise funds for the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund. Chardham pilgrims from the district on their return would narrate their horrifying experiences , Mr. Sastrytold reporters.
