Bollywood Comes to the Aid of Uttarakhand Flood Vics
Mumbai, June 25, 2013: Bollywood is not immune to the plight of thousands of people who are stranded in flood-and-rain-ravaged Uttarakhand. It is also sympathetic to families of those who have lost their near and dear ones in Uttarakhand. Hence, Bollywood celebs are doing their best to lend a helping hand for those who are stranded. Be it in cash, goods, or plain awareness, Bollywood is doing its bit to help the victims in crisis.
Bollywood actor Shatrughan Sinha and his daughter Sonakshi have reportedly volunteered to donate Rs. 50 lakh towards the rehabilitation of the flood-affected victims. Shatrughan runs a charitable organisation called Prayas, which is also working for flood victims. Joining Shatrughan Sinha's efforts is T-Series head honcho Bhushan Kumar. Kumar's mother was on a pilgrimage in Uttarakhand and went missing for a few days there. Understanding the trauma of flood-affected victims and their families, Bhushan has decided to do his bit.
Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui has also displayed his philanthropic side by donating money for people who are stranded in Uttarakhand. Since the actor has spent his childhood in the hills and has his family settled there, the actor has decided to go there towards end of the month.
Other actors who are doing their bit to help the victims are Anupam Kher, Ravi Kissen, Dia Mirza and Juhi Chwala. While Anupam has donated Rs 1,11,000 to the NGO Goon, Ravi Kissen is also sending medicines and food supplies to the victims through the same NGO. Actress Juhi Chawla is donating blankets for the victims.
Besides this several other actors have been using the aid of social media to spread awareness and urge people to make contributions for flood-affected victims in whatever capacity they can.
