Delhi Police Announces a Fund of Rs. 1 Crore for the P.M.’s Relief Fund
New Delhi, June 25, 2013: The Delhi Police announced on Monday that they would contribute a sum of Rs. 1 crore to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for the Uttarakhand flood victims.
The announcement was made by Delhi Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar during the flagging-off ceremony of new Police Control Room vans at India Gate. The newly-inducted vans were flagged off by Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde.
First installment
Tihar Jail administration had also announced that they would donate money collected from the inmates as well as the staff members. The first instalment of Rs. 10 lakh was handed over to Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit by Director General (Prisons) Vimla Mehra on Monday. A senior jail officer said that the total amount that the jail administration would contribute is over Rs. 20 lakh and the next instalment would be handed over by the end of this month.
