State BJP Legistators to Donate One Month’s Salary towards Flood-Relief
Bangalore, June 25, 2013: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislators in the State have decided to donate their one month’s salary in aid of the flood victims of Uttarakhand.
In a joint press statement, BJP legislature party leader Jagadish Shettar and Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council D.V. Sadananda Gowda said lakhs of people have become homeless in the floods and thousands of pilgrims of Kedarnath and Badarinath, who were stranded, are in need of help. “It is our responsibility to help them. All BJP legislators have decided to donate their salary,” they said.
Mr. Shettar and Mr. Gowda urged the State government to take immediate steps to ensure the safe return of pilgrims.
