BJP Prays for Uttarakhand Flood Vics
Ramanathapuram, June 23, 2013: The Rameswaram unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organised ‘Shanthi Mantiram and Pushapanjali’ programme at Agni Theertham in front of the Sri Ramanathaswamy Temple near here on Saturday to pay homage to those who died in the recent flash floods and landslides in Uttarakhand.
About 300 people, including pilgrims who visited the temple, sadhus and party cadre, assembled on the Agni Theertham seashore and offered prayers.
BJP National Council member K.Muraleedharan, who organised the ceremony, said special prayers were conducted for the speedy recovery of those injured in the natural calamity.
The participants in the programme also prayed that such natural calamities should not recur in any part of the world.
He said the BJP Rameswaram unit sent a cheque for Rs.25,000 to the Uttarakhand Chief Minister through BJP president Rajnath Singh for the relief work.
Seetharam Doss Baba from Bajrang Doss Baba Annadhana Chathiram, V.Sundara Vadhyar from Sankara Mutt, Swami Pravananda from Vivekananda Kudil and members of the Maharishi Veda Vidya Parishad also participated in the ceremony, he added.
