16 pilgrims of Guntur District are still missing
Guntur, June 22, 2013: The families and relatives of pilgrims hailing from Munnangi and Vallabhapuram villages in Kollipara and Nuthakki in Mangalagiri, and Amaravati, who were stranded in flood-ravaged Uttarakhand are spending anxious moments as they are yet to receive information of their whereabouts.
In all, 42 persons from Munnangi, Vallabhapuram, and Nuthakki went on tour to Badrinath, Kedarnath, and other hill shrines by a private bus on May 31.
Out of 30 who were from Munnangi, four persons — B. Satyanarayana, B. Picchi Reddy, T. Venkata Reddy, and T. Koti Reddy — could not be traced. A couple — S. Pulla Rao and Bharati — from Amaravati have also been missing since then.
The others had a miraculous escape as the building in which they were taking shelter was damaged by flood water. There is also no communication from the remaining 10 persons hailing from Vallabhapuram and Nuthakki.
Some of them are believed to have reached either Delhi, Dehradun, or rescue camps , but the district officials here have not yet received any information .
