“There are more people misguiding us than guiding us here,” said KJP leader Shobha Karandlaje, who is among the pilgrims stranded in Uttarakhand following landslides and flash floods.

Speaking from a place near Rudraprayag where she is stranded, she said the government machinery seemed to be virtually “absent”.

She and other pilgrims bound for Kedar had moved out of Budla village in Rudraprayag, where they had taken shelter on Monday, because they were given to believe that roads had cleared.
