Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradeh and Haryana governments on Wednesday announced financial aid to the rain ravaged Uttarakhand.

Expressing his condolences on the large scale loss of life and property in the cloud burst and incessant rains, which washed away hundreds and damaged more than 500 roads and uprooted bridges, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said he was extremely distressed at the natural calamity. He announced financial aid of Rs. 25 crore to the Himalayan state.

Offering all possible help to Uttarakhand, Mr. Yadav exhorted individuals and other people to come forward and help in the relief work.

“I urge people to show compassion in these testing times for the people of Uttarakhand and extend financial help and do everything possible to bring relief to the people of Uttarakhand.”

Madhya Pradesh

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced an assistance of Rs five crore to the monsoon-ravaged Uttarakhand.

Mr. Chouhan made this announcement on Tuesday after receiving reports of major damage in the hill state, famous for the shrines of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Yamunotri and Gangotri, official sources said.

The Chief Minister also set up a cell in the CM Secretariat to provide help to the stranded pilgrims. Under Secretary, Neeraj Vashishta has been appointed as its coordinator, they added.

Chouhan’s secretary, Hariranjan Rao will work in coordination with the State’s Resident Commissioner in New Delhi, Shailendra Singh for relief measures, sources said.

Besides, the state disaster management body has also started an Emergency Control Room headed by District Commandant, Santosh Jat (Mob No. 09926769808 and Landline No 0755-2556422) for providing relief to the stranded persons.

Haryana

The Haryana government on Wednesday announced a Rs.10-crore assistance to calamity-hit Uttarakhand.

“Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda announced to give Rs.10 crore to Uttarakhand to help the state as a rescue and relief operation has been launched there following floods triggered by heavy rain,” a state government spokesman said in Chandigarh.

In Haryana, the Yamuna River was flowing over the danger mark and has entered villages in Yamunanagar and Karnal district in the last four days. However, no loss of life or property has been reported.
